About ABOTA
The American Board of Trial Advocates is a national association of trial lawyers and judges founded in 1958. It is dedicated to preserving the right to a civil jury trial, provided by the Seventh Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
Membership is by invitation only. To qualify, lawyers must meet the following criteria:
- Have at least five years of active experience as trial lawyers
- Have tried at least 10 civil jury trials to conclusion and possess additional litigation experience
- Exhibit the virtues of civility, integrity and professionalism
